MJ Murphy joins BGF's investment team in Dublin

BGF Ireland has further expanded its team with the appointment of new investor MJ Murphy.

MJ joins BGF’s Dublin team from finnCap Cavendish in London, where he was a senior associate in Private M&A Advisory. Managing transactions across a range of sectors, MJ’s primary focus was technology — covering cloud, cyber, digital transformation and managed services — as well as healthcare and financial services.

Prior to finnCap Cavendish, MJ was a manager in KPMG’s Corporate Finance team in Dublin, where he was responsible for buy-side and sell-side advisory, raising new finance, and refinancing existing facilities.

In his new role at BGF, MJ will work alongside existing team members to source and execute new investments across Ireland. He’ll also sit on the boards of portfolio companies, supporting management teams on their growth journeys through to exit.

Having launched in the UK in 2011, BGF began operations in Ireland in 2017. Since then, BGF has provided almost €100 million of patient capital investment to Irish businesses, across numerous growth sectors, from medical device manufacturing to cybersecurity.

“I’m hugely excited to be joining the team at BGF. As one of Ireland’s most active growth investors, BGF is providing long-term, flexible funding to some truly remarkable businesses. I’m looking forward to working closely with founders and management teams across the country to help them scale.”
